‘I came to the profession of puppeteer after many years as theatre  costume and set designer ... I chose the puppet, moved by the hand of man itself and not the marionette, operated by strings, because I found that it could better express the most intimate nuances of the character and because the puppeteer who gives it life can really do so, with the greatest abandon, with his whole soul.’

She created seventy-seven different shows, some  for very young children, among them very many of the popular fairy tales such as The Frog Prince and Ali Baba (1953), and The Three Hairs of the Devil (1955), others by famous Italian writers,  such as The Big Voice of the King (by Luigi Capuana)(1979) and The Magic Drum (by Gianni Rodari) (1984), and classic tales such as Thumbelina (by Hans Christian Andersen) (1973), The Elephant’s Child (by Rudyard Kipling) (1987), and fantastic tales such as The Sad Story of the Half Cockerel, with original music by Lidia Ivanovna (1947), The Greedy Dragon (1950) and A Fairy Tale for Klee (by Pinin Carpi) (1983).

Her choices sprang from an interest in a particular subject, from the suggestion of a colleague or for other reasons. But in her  productions she always insisted working together with a director,  musicians, a set designer, a choreographer and  actors, exactly like ‘actors’ theatre’.
